Why We’re Doing This
Over the years, Ostrava has transformed into an attractive destination that welcomes up to two million visitors annually, coming for music, sports, culture, and business. However, the city’s accommodation capacity is insufficient. Ostrava is therefore seeking to expand its hotel market to meet growing demand, especially during major sporting events and summer music festivals.
The city currently lacks a five-star hotel, and the four-star capacity is limited. There is also no hotel with large congress facilities to accommodate the more than 900 professional conferences held in Ostrava each year.
Ostrava offers significant potential for at least a three-star hotel for visitors seeking quality at an affordable price, a stylish hotel, or a four-star design/boutique hotel offering a unique guest experience.

Lucie Baránková Vilamová
Deputy Mayor for strategic development and culture of Ostrava City. She is a graduate of VŠB-TU Ostrava and in her professional practice, she has been involved in project management, trade, and marketing. She has also lectured on marketing and trade at universities and supervised diploma theses. “It is pointless to ask whether life has meaning or not. It has as much meaning as we give it,” with this motto, she entered the prestigious competition of the Czech Management Association, where she competed not only for the title of Manager of the Year 2021, but also for the highest position in her competition category “Public Administration.”

Ondřej Vysloužil
He studied at the Brno University of Technology and began his career at the architectural studio Atelier 8000 in Prague, where he contributed to projects involving office and commercial buildings, residential constructions, and urban planning designs. To leave his creative mark in all three of the Czech Republic’s largest cities, he returned to his hometown of Ostrava. There, he and his wife founded the firm VYSLOUŽIL ARCHITEKTI. Since 2019, he has been the director of MAPPA.

Jan Adámek
Jan Adámek was in the hotel business for many years as a hotel general manager. In 2003, he secured the acquisition of 5* Hotel Jalta in Prague on Wenceslas Square for a British investor, and three years later the acquisition of 4* Hotel Plaza Alta in Prague 7.
Twenty years of active scouting taught him what’s most important in his words, which is that rules, truth and fairness are essential. He has brought that legacy to JAN Hospitality, which is currently working for dozens of domestic and foreign companies.

Jiří Hudec
For many years, he has managed external financing and strategic planning agendas, and in recent years, also project management and metropolitan cooperation. He skillfully combines the city’s development activities and investment projects, such as the new concert hall, the Černá Louka–DOV connection across private investment areas, the T-Park development, Corporate Kindergarten, Ostrava Zoo and Botanical Garden, Fajna dílna makerspace, and international partnerships.
He is the expert guarantor of Ostrava’s Strategic Development Plan under the fajnOVA brand, ensuring strong public and expert involvement. He is also responsible for its implementation and evaluation.

Andrzej Szymczyk
Development Director for Poland, Eastern Europe, and the Baltics at IHG Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies. He is responsible for leading and expanding IHG’s portfolio through franchise and management agreements.
Andrzej has over 20 years of extensive international experience in the hospitality industry across various hotel departments, particularly in large hotel groups and independent properties. He helps hotel owners optimize their assets and select the most suitable brand and design solutions.

Lukáš Prokop
He works as the deputy manager at the B&B Prague City hotel, where he is involved, among other things, in managing the hotel, maintaining and developing relationships with corporate clients, and representing the hotel at tourism trade fairs. He has been active in the hospitality industry for 18 years. He has worked in hotels of various sizes, from luxury properties to the current economy class. He actively supports his current company, B&B Hotels, in its expansion across the Czech Republic.
